Aftercare

The program offers safe and convenient afterschool care. We pick children up from school. When they arrive at Woodland they play in the gym or playground from 3:45 PM until 4:15 PM. After we have allowed the children to run off some pent up energy from a long day in the classroom, we move to individual classrooms that are separated by grade level. These classes have anywhere from 20 to 22 children and an individual teacher. We provide a snack and the children begin homework, reading or quiet learning activities. The teachers help children with their homework. Homework time is based on the grade, approximately 10 minutes per grade level. After homework time children play with centers or games in the classrooms. At 5:15 PM we go back to the gym or playground until pick up.

We have an outstanding summer program which includes an academic learning block, weekly field trips, clubs, theme days, special events, park hopping, giant water slide and water play weekly. Each grade level has their own individual classroom and teacher. The grade levels are separated for the large majority of the day. Children are in mixed groups until 9 AM when they move from the gym to their grade appropriate classroom. They will stay with their own grade until 5 PM when they go back to the gym or playground.

Having children with their own age group for most of the day is a high value to many of our parents and often it is one of the strongest reasons parents choose our program for their children.
