Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten
VPK at Woodland Preschool Academy is a program designed by the State of Florida in partnership with the Department of Education in order to prepare children to be ready to learn to read and be ready for kindergarten. We use a series of assessments that will drive individual instruction for each child. The children will be given an assessment during the first two weeks of school that will assess the child’s level in math, oral language, print knowledge, and phonological awareness. The teachers will then be able to focus on the individual needs of the child. The assessment is then given again in January. At this time we will meet with parents to discuss the child’s progress and talk about learning goals for the second half of the year.
